Raising environmental awareness

Network Integrity Assurance Technology (NiAT) employees rolled up their sleeves to plant 50 tree saplings at the Berakas Forest Reserve Recreational Park on July 8 to observe the World Environment Day 2022, organised as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative towards giving back to the environment.

NiAT Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lim Ming Soon led the activity that saw Penaga Laut (Calophyllum inophyllum) and Ru Laut (Casurina Equistifolia) saplings being planted, according to a press statement.

Also in attendance were representatives from the Forestry Department.

The event’s objective was to encourage employees to take part in climate action through planting and preservation of trees in support of the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP) Strategy number 2: Forest Cover, that is to increase the nation’s carbon sink through afforestation and reforestation programmes. The target is to plant 500,000 new trees by 2035.
