From its humble beginnings in 1998 with a modest audience of 300, the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) has blossomed into a global phenomenon, recognised as one of the 25 best international festivals.

This year’s 27th edition embodies the theme of ‘EVOLUTION’, where sustainability, responsible tourism, and cultural exchange blend in perfect harmony.

From June 28-30, the heart of Sarawak will pulsate with the energy of music deep within Borneo’s rainforest, where tradition and contemporary flair intertwine to create an unforgettable experience.

Sarawak, known as the ‘Gateway to Borneo,’ asserts itself as the premier entry point to the breathtaking wonders of the island, offering an unparalleled tapestry of cultural richness, natural splendour, and historical intrigue.

As the host of RWMF, Sarawak beckons travellers with its vibrant tapestry of indigenous cultures, each offering a unique glimpse into Borneo’s diverse heritage. “With delectable culinary delights and a wealth of outdoor adventures, Sarawak stands as an irresistible gateway to the wonders of Borneo, promising festival-goers an unforgettable experience that resonates long after their visit,” said Sarawak Tourism Board in a statement.

Some 68 international musicians representing 15 countries across six continents are set to light the stage, alongside 63 Malaysian artistes to create a rich tapestry of sound.

Grammy award-winning Japanese artiste Kitaro will take centre stage as the festival’s headliner. Renowned for his captivating electronic-instrumental compositions, his presence promises an electrifying performance. Imagine a fusion of modern soundscapes seamlessly interwoven with traditional influences, transporting audiences to a world of sonic wonder.
