Radisson becomes first hotel to partner with QAF Auto on EV programme

QAF Auto Sdn Bhd yesterday announced Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam as its second BMW Destination Charging Partner, the first hotel in the Sultanate to offer electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

A ceremony was held at the hotel, attended by QAF Brunei Group Chief Executive Officer Albert Lau; Executive Director Stephen Ong representing the Board of Directors of Hotel Associates Sdn Bhd; QAF Auto General Manager Alisa Khoo; and Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam General Manager Miriam Wolber.

During the launch at the hotel, Khoo said QAF Auto’s partnership with Radisson Hotel is part of its mission “to further realise energy sustainability for the future of transportation”.

QAF’s BMW Destination Charging Partner programme is part of the holistic sustainability strategy to establish an integrated and convenient charging infrastructure for owners of BMW EVs across the country.

Khoo said the collaboration with the hotel “forges a solid foundation” that “allows us to further drive the adoption of electric mobility in Brunei”.

Meanwhile, Wolber saw the partnership as “a significant milestone as we take one more step towards environmental responsibility and commitment to a greener future”.

She added, “Environmental responsibility is the core of our values. We recognise the urgent need to transition to clean and renewable energy sources. From energy efficient lighting to waste reduction programmes, we are dedicated to creating a positive impact on the environment.”

Diners at the hotel will now be able to charge their EVs at no costs, which is an offer that Wolber said goes beyond “providing a service” as “we are shaping the future where responsible and sustainable practices are the norm; not the exception”.

Deborah Haines, Senior Director of Operations for the Radisson Hotel Group in Southeast Asia, said, “At Radisson Hotel Group, we have a strong commitment and vision in facilitating responsible business through sustainability.

“We are proud to be playing a pivotal role in Brunei’s sustainability journey, by establishing as the first hotel to launch an EV charging station.”

The group is a pioneer in taking action to reverse climate change by committing to setting science-based emission reduction targets and aiming to achieve a net zero by 2050.

Meanwhile, to accelerate the shift towards EVs in the country, QAF Auto said every purchase of a BMW EV comes with complimentary BMW Wallbox home installation, eight years or 160,000-kilometre (km) warranty for the high-voltage battery system, three years or 200,000km extended warranty and six years of BMW inclusive service without limitation on mileage. – James Kon
