In 2021, when my daughter was born, we opted for a private room at the general hospital and paid the BND100 deposit, which they said could be claimed later.
Being a new parent in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic, along with all the measures, and having to juggle between work and other commitments, the thought of the deposit was very far down on the to-do list.
Last year, when the health crisis was firmly behind us and I was well-adjusted to parenthood, I finally had the time to go back to the hospital to make the claim. To my dismay, the woman at the payment counter said she couldn’t find my file, and asked if I could fill in a new claim request.
When I finally gathered all the relevant documents and submitted the form early this year, I was told to expect the deposit back within three months. But it’s been over six months and I can’t help but wonder if they have misplaced my file yet again. What’s going on? Will I ever see the money again?
