Twenty-one family members known as ‘Keluarga 52’ left the Sultanate on Thursday to witness the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Family delegation manager Haji Zainal bin Haji Ali said this is not the first time the family has physically attended the World Cup match as they also had the opportunity to watch the World Cup in 2014 in Brazil, and Moscow, Russia in 2018.
Haji Zainal shared this is the first time a large number of family members are taking part in the trip compared to previous World Cups, and are excited that this year’s host is a Muslim country, which means that there will be no problems in finding halal food.
“We have been preparing and planning for this trip for over a year. Alhamdulillah, we are lucky to get help from the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) in getting ticket bookings, so our deepest appreciation goes to them,” added Haji Zainal.
Keluarga 52 will be attending three football matches in separate stadiums, including the opening match between host Qatar against Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium.
