The Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) Brunei, Surveyor Division attended the 26th Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) Congress in Singapore from September 9 to 13.
PUJA Brunei was represented by its Vice President/Surveyor Division Chairperson Sr Hajah Hajijah binti Haji Salleh, Vice Chairperson (Quantity Surveyors) Sr Hajah Wan Farhani binti Haji Suhaili, Secretary Sr Aaron Wong Chuan Xing and general members Sr Lye Kok Kuan, Sr John Wong Chee Kwong, Haji Muhammad Haziq bin Haji Abdul Zariful and Sr Awangku Mohd Adib bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan.
PUJA Brunei President Sr Haji Mohammad Hanafi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Abdul Rahman and two government officials Rosniza binti Dato Paduka Haji Hamdani and Nurul Faizah binti Haji Jamalludin also attended.
PAQS is the world’s most recognised quantity surveying organisation comprising 14 members of professional quantity surveying institutions from Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Fiji, South Korea and South Africa. Affiliate member professional institutions include those from Europe. The congress was attended by some 250 participants comprising professionals, scientists, quantity surveyors, technologists, students and academicians from all over the world.
The 26th PAQS 2022 Congress was hosted by Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV). Themed ‘Disruption and Transformation in the Built Environment’, the meeting saw a range of technical papers being presented, including subject of digital technologies, future for youth, green building implementations, Building Information Modelling (BIM), sustainability, change management, current industrial practice, education, economics, disaster management and future proofing the profession. In addition, technical site visits were also arranged.
The upcoming 27th PAQS Congress will be held from September 25 to 26, 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia themed ‘Decarbonising the Future’.
