The public is welcome to participate in the Olympic Day Run at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien on June 23.
Organised by the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC), in collaboration with the Department of Youth and Sports of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the event celebrates the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect while promoting community participation.
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, the President of BDNOC, is expected to attend as the guest of honour.
According to BDNOC, the Olympic Day Run includes various categories, such as the 1.8-kilometre (km) category for under-12 boys and under-12 girls as well as the category for people with different abilities, 3km men and women veteran category and a challenging 5km open men and women category for competitive participants and enthusiasts.
Registration is free and will commence from May 27 to 29 from 8.30am to noon and 2pm to 4pm at room number 13, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Brunei-Muara District.
Additionally, registration will be available at all sports complexes, Department of Youth and Sports in Belait, Tutong and Temburong districts at the same times and dates.
Registered participants will receive a limited-edition t-shirt commemorating the Olympic Day Run 2024 (to be distributed and notified on a later date), a certificate (upon completing the run event) and a medal for top 10 in each category presented by His Royal Highness. – James Kon
