In recent weeks, Brunei has been recording huge daily case numbers, reminiscent of what happened a year ago, when the second COVID-19 wave hit.
What is concerning is the recent advisory from the authorities to remind us that the 90-day immunity period is not a guarantee; and that recovered patients are just as likely to contract the virus.
I hope that it is enough to wake the population up to the fact that we need to continue observing standard operating procedures, especially with the re-infected on home isolation, leading to shortages in the workforce across the country.
I, for one, would rather see more easing of measures than to revert to the peak of the outbreak. Thus, I would like to urge everyone to continue following the health guidelines instead of taking the pandemic lightly.
