Performing Puasa Enam should not be an excuse for not attending Hari Raya open houses. Instead, the hosts should supplicate without breaking the fast, said an officer of the Islamic Eminence Division at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), Mohd Fahmi bin Haji Matnor in his talk on Hari Raya Etiquettes for those performing Puasa Enam during Munajat on Saturday.
He said visiting open houses during Hari Raya is a tradition in the Sultanate, with hosts serving guests a wide variety of gastronomic delights. “However, there would be guests who are fasting in the month of Syawal.”
Mohd Fahmi, citing scholars, said those performing puasa enam are allowed to break the fast if they think the host would be offended by the food served not being consumed.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Yusof, who is also a member of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, led the weekly congregation by reading Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah from Kampong Lambak Mosque.
Also in attendance were IMPAK Tutong Youth Movement members from the Tutong District, Kampong Lambak Mosque, Kampong Kilanas mosque takmir committee members, worshippers from 91 mosques, suraus and religious halls, as well as MoRA staff and their family members.
