PTEB hosts inaugural school-wide sports day

The Belait Sixth Form Centre (PTEB) held its first-ever Sports Day at Padang Arena, Seria, last Saturday, showcasing the talents and sportsmanship of both students and teachers.

The event aimed to foster the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the five school houses – Creative, Independence, Resilience, Innovative, and Courage. The houses banded together, cheering for their team members in various field competitions.

PTEB Principal Chin Ai Fong officially declared the start of the Sports Day.

The first activity featured a march past and performance by the five houses, with House Creative winning for their uniformity and enthusiasm. This was followed by the recitation of the sports oath, led by Head of the Students’ Representative Council Muhammad Hassanul Aqhar Haji Abdul Azis, and a warm-up session conducted by teacher Azean binti Mohammad.

Track events then took center stage, with students competing in categories such as the 4x100m relay and individual races of 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m for male students. Staff members also joined in, competing in the 50m for veterans, 100m, and 4x100m relay races.

During the intermission, PTEB’s Youth Reach Out Club supported the event by performing a cheerleading routine titled ‘Colours Unite: A Cheer for PTEB’s Spirit of Sportsmanship’. The club also conducted face painting and food and beverage sales, with some proceeds going to the Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA).

A prize presentation ceremony concluded the event, recognising the achievements of both students and staff. The biggest winners were House Independence and House Resilience, each securing 32 points. House Independence earned nine gold, one silver, and three bronze medals, while House Resilience claimed six gold, five silver, and four bronze medals. – DANIEL LIM
