    PSW Donation Ceremony provides school supplies for orphans and needy families

    In an effort to assist orphans and underprivileged families in preparing for the 2025 school year, the Brunei Darussalam Women Graduates Association (PSW), in collaboration with the Village Consultative Council (MPK) of Zone 2 RPN Panchor, Mentiri, held a Donation Presentation Ceremony through the 2024 Dropbox Collection Project. 

    The event took place at a business complex in Kampong Kiulap. 

    Present as the Guest of Honor and officiating the donation presentation was the President of PSW Hajah Dayang Hassanah binti Haji Awang Hassan. 

    Also in attendance were members of the PSW Advisory Panel, Pengiran Hajah Zabaidah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaludin and Dr Hajah Hairuni binti Haji Mohamed Ali Maricar, along with several members of PSW’s Executive Committee. 

    Additionally, Acting Mukim Mentiri Village Head, the Village Head of Zone 2 RPN Panchor, Mentiri, Haji Awang Mohamad Eddie Hardey bin Haji Awang Ibrahim, and Head of the Women’s Bureau of MPK Zone 2 RPN Panchor, Mentiri , Pengiran Marliza binti Pengiran Haji Omar, as well as other MPK representatives were present. 

    During the ceremony, 30 recipients comprising 14 orphans and 16 children from underprivileged families received school supply vouchers. 

    These vouchers were donated by PSW members, friends, and their families through the PSW Save Our Children Fund. Additional contributions were made by the Acting Mukim Mentiri Village Head, the Village Head of Zone 2 RPN Panchor, Mentiri, and their families, as well as MPK Zone 2 members, Ar-Rizqi Enterprise, and several individual donors. 

    The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a speech from the Village Head of Zone 2 RPN Panchor, Mentiri. 

    The highlight of the event was the official presentation of donations by the PSW President, Advisory Panel members, and Executive Committee to the recipients. 

    The event concluded with a group photo, symbolising the strong collaborative ties between PSW and MPK Zone 2 RPN Panchor, Mentiri in addressing community welfare. 

    This initiative is part of the Dropbox Collection Project, which has been ongoing since 2010. The project aims to facilitate public contributions, such as used clothing and school supplies, to those in need, with continuous support from contributing partners and organizations. 

    PSW hopes that this project will ease the burden on recipient families and foster closer cooperation between non-governmental organizations and local communities. PSW also aspires for activities like this to serve as a positive model (qudwah hasanah) for other organizations to engage in charitable initiatives. 

    Established on February 5, 1990, PSW is a non-governmental organisation that has been actively serving the community for 34 years. With a membership of many professionals, PSW continues to organise impactful programs in the fields of education, welfare, and professional development. – James Kon
