The Hassanal Bolkiah Boys’ Arabic Secondary School held its Open Day Tuesday morning, aimed at sharing information with students from Arabic schools and the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute who are interested in continuing their studies at the country’s only Arabic sixth form or pre-university centre.
Present as the guest of honour was Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) Awang Misle bin Haji Abd Karim at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, who also officiated the Open Day.
The event served as a platform to inform attendees about the academic courses offered by the school as well as the scholarship opportunities available to students.
Participating in the Open Day were representatives from the Human Resource Development and Scholarships Division of the Islamic Studies Department under the Ministry of Religious Affairs; the Scholarship Divisions of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defence; the Sultan’s Scholar Programme under Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA); Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB); and the National Accreditation Council of Brunei Darussalam.
The event also featured the unveiling of the “Citra Diraja Room,” officiated by the guest of honour. The special exhibit showcases a collection of photographs documenting the visits of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, to the school in 2002, 2007, 2012, 2016, and 2018.
More than a historical tribute, the “Citra Diraja Room” reflects the loyalty and affection of the school community towards His Majesty, who has shown unwavering care and dedication to the welfare and development of the Hassanal Bolkiah Boys’ Arabic Secondary School and Arabic education institutions across the nation. – FADLEY FAISAL
