Promoting the art of hadrah

Sengkurong Primary School and Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School emerged the champions in the finals of a competition at the Centre for Lifelong Learning at Universiti Brunei Darussalam yesterday.

In the primary school category, Anggrerek Desa Primary School and Rimba II Primary School came in second and third place, while in the secondary school and sixth form centre category, the first and second runners-up were Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School and Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic School.

The event was open to all primary and secondary schools as well as sixth-form centres across the Sultanate.

Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Dr Mona Aliana binti Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Alimin, the chief guest, presented prizes to the winners.

The competition’s objective was to promote the art of hadrah, while fostering competitive spirit among students. The competition was organised by the MoE through the Spiritual Activities Division, Department of Co-Curriculum Education. – Rokiah Mahmud
