The objective of establishing the Kampong Lubok Pulau Community Hall as a ‘one stop community centre’ is to provide an easy and comfortable location for the villagers to conduct activities that promote a sense of community for both the young and the old, the 29th Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officers (EDPSGO) representative Haji Amir Azman bin Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Setia Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahman said.

The event yesterday was part of a community outreach project by members of the 29th EDPSGO.

Acting Tutong District Officer Md Amirul Hadi bin Haji Md Tajudin was the guest of honour.

Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong was also present along with members of the 29th EDPSGO and representatives of project sponsors. The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.

Haji Amir Azman, also highlighted that the community outreach project is based on the initiative of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) incorporated in the 29th EDPSGO development programme as part of the effort to encourage senior government officials to be involved in more community projects.

The refurbished community centre features a meeting area with equipment to be used to hold meetings and classes, and a storage area to store necessities to be distributed to underpriviledged villagers.

The community hall also features a children’s corner for kids to play. The centre’s exterior is fitted with solar lights for villagers to conduct activities at night.
