The Information Department organised a ‘Get to Know ASEAN’ briefing at St James’ School in Belait District yesterday.

The event, organised through the International Affairs Unit as the Secretariat of the ASEAN-COCI Sub-Committee on Information (SCI), was aimed at providing secondary school students information relating to ASEAN.

Head of the International Affairs Unit Mufidah binti Haji Abdul Hakim led the briefing attended by 70 students.

Principal Riman binti Sitai and school staff were also present.

The programme is one of the Information Department’s efforts to increase patriotism and unity among the students and appreciate the objectives of ASEAN, in line with the association’s motto ‘One Vision, One Identity, One Community’.

It also allows the department to strengthen ties with the community, particularly students who will become the Sultanate’s leaders in the future.

Among the activities are ASEAN quizzes and an introduction to We ASEAN application, which contains information on the association, calendar, quizzes, photos and video galleries.

The programme also promotes the ASEAN Secretariat’s publication, ASEAN Communication Master Plan II (ACMP II), an initiative to support the implementation of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on the ASEAN Vision 2025.
