Politeknik Brunei (PB) officially launched its Tenaga Lestari and Makerspace projects at its Lumut campus in the Belait District yesterday.
Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh attended the ceremony as the guest of honour and was welcomed by PB’s Acting Director Lim Kian Boon.
Following the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by mosque affairs officer at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Mohd Didi Normady bin Ahmad, the ceremony continued with welcoming remarks from the PB acting director.
“The Tenaga Lestari and Makerspace projects are some of the initiatives under PB’s five-year development plan for 2021-2025 to support the national goal of raising awareness on sustainable energy at the national level, integrating sustainable energy into teaching and learning courses, creating lifelong learning opportunities in the field of sustainable energy, and producing competent technicians that are skilled in the field of solar photovoltaic (PV).”
The event also saw the minister officiate the launch of a video presentation showcasing activities and project milestones.
The minister also toured the Makerspace, featuring live demonstrations of 3D printing and laser engraving at the Maker’s Hub as well as showcases of 3D-printed products, software design projects, a paper finishing station for printing projects and reports, the Tenaga Lestari Exhibition using a PV solar panel system. – Daniel Lim
