Programmes, co-curricular activities on show at open day

The Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), through the Core Knowledge Centre of the Academic Affairs Section and Student Affairs Section, held an open day dubbed ‘Study at KUPU SB 2023’ over the weekend.

The event aimed to expose the public to KUPU SB as an institution focussed on religious teaching in the Sultanate.

It also aimed to provide information and opportunities for students to obtain information on academic programmes offered at KUPU SB.

In addition, the open day served as a platform for KUPU SB students to showcase their co-curricular and entrepreneurship activities.

The launching ceremony was held at Tarbiyah Hall officiated by KUPU SB Ra’es Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar.

Activities included a fire extinguishing demonstration by Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) personnel, stage performances such as Zainul Qur’an, tausyeh, silat, archery as well as hadrah by KUPU SB students.

There were also sharing sessions including ‘Kepintaran kewangan kunci kekuatan kewangan yang stabil antara ciri menjadi Al-Mukmin Al-Qawiy dalam menuju Wawasan 2035’ by Yesinv Management Services Sdn Bhd Director Salwana binti Haji Salim, an introduction on Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) by Muhd Syu’aib bin Ahmad Rafie and financial awareness talk by Muhd Lutfir Rahman from life advisory of Goodlife Financial Planning Sdn Bhd.

The open day also saw faculties and centres’ information booths providing information and consultation on academic programmes and courses including the army, police, FRD, scouts, girl guides and Red Crescent cadets joined by KUPU SB students.

The event featured a skill and entrepreneurship exhibition participated by KUPU SB students at the Youth Development Centre including cooking skills, cake and pastry making, plumbing, vehicle repair, tailoring and beauty therapy.

KUPU SB offers academic programmes including Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master’s programme, Postgraduate Religious Education Diploma, Bachelor’s degree programme, Higher Diploma and Diploma programme through four faculties, namely Usuluddin, Syariah, Education and Social Science Education.

The academic programmes are supported by six centres – the Language Centre, Core Knowledge Centre, Postgraduate Studies and Research Centre, Fiqh al-Usrah Research Centre, Jawi Studies and Kitab Turath Research Centre, and the Centre of Research and Understanding of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah.

Other programmes include minor courses and twinning programmes for KUPU SB students pursuing their Bachelor’s degree programmes.
