The focus of the 12th National Development Plan (RKN 12) is for the Sultanate to achieve economic growth in infrastructure development including housing, with the aim of economic generation in the construction sector and job opportunities.
This was said by Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid in his World Habitat Day message which was highlighted at the Habitat Exhibition (HABITEX) organised by the Housing Development Department at the Ministry of Development (MoD).
Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda also said to achieve the target of 85 per cent home ownership rate by 2035, the MoD is working to ensure that the National Housing Scheme has financial viability in the long term with a more cost-effective and sustainable financial model in the production of houses.
“The concept of a resilient urban economy is among the agendas that need to be thought of holistically through a whole-of-nation approach to determine future development goals.
“It is the intention of the ministry to support this matter through the goal of Brunei Vision 2035 which is people with high quality of life towards a more progressive national development.
“The MoD will continue to ensure that projects are carried out sustainably, including more resilient development,” he said.
Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda also inaugurated HABITEX, which provides a platform for entrepreneurs to promote products and services including for construction, home decoration, banking and finance, telecommunications and food and beverages.
HABITEX is held in the ground floor and first floor foyer of the Housing Development Department building and Department of Electrical Services.
