Product innovation programme kicks off

The One Village, One Product (1K1P) Product Innovation programme began with the 1K1P Product Innovation Discussion at the Tutong District Officer’s official residence hall yesterday.

The event, to be held until May 30, will feature discussions and briefings by stakeholders representatives from government and private agencies, associations and partnerships of 1K1P and youth entrepreneurs.

Twenty participants comprising youth, 1K1P entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) represented the four districts. The event also saw grassroots leaders among the newly appointed village heads.

The 1K1P Product Innovation Discussion is an activity of the first phase of the Tutong District 1K1P Product Innovation programme themed ‘Towards Inclusive Product Innovation’.

The scope of activities includes briefing sessions and discussions related to 1K1P towards the development and advancement of the product, including opportunities that can be explored by participants in entrepreneurship such as the Youth Development Programme and other programmes introduced by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) under the umbrella of the village consultative councils.

Among the presenters were the MoHA 1K1P programme and Tutong District Office, Young Entrepreneurs Association Brunei (YEAB) with a partnership of two young entrepreneurs through the Jaddams and Pais C Haji brands, representatives from the Halal Food Control Division of the Tutong Religious Affairs Office, Tourism Product Innovation from the Tourism Development Department, Finance and Entrepreneurship were presented by AIA representative Kelvin Pong, and Tutong District Development and Creative Body with the topic ‘Tutong Destination’.

Participants also attended a sharing session from three 1K1P entrepreneurs from Tutong District – Gaharu perfume products from Angkasa Oud, Hairol Aminah Company cracker products and Lamin Kampung Entrepreneurs.

The 1K1P mini showcase was also displayed by programme organisers as an initiative to introduce Tutong District 1K1P products to the participants. The products of the 1K1P Transformation Programme and the Tutong Destination Programme were also on display.

The programme is jointly organised by the Tutong District Office, Tutong District Development and Creative Body, and the Tutong District Village Consultative Councils in collaboration with the MoHA, aimed at producing new high quality products with commercial value, affordable and gaining high demand in the market through innovation methods to existing 1K1P products.

Another aim is to elevate the 1K1P product brand as a superior and high quality product of Brunei Darussalam.
