Team Prisons Department were crowned champions after beating Team Immigration and National Registration Department 1-0 in the Futsal Tournament for departments and agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) yesterday.
The tournament, held at the multi-purpose hall of the Mumong Sports Complex, saw 12 teams comprising officers and staff members under MoHA from across the nation vying for the trophy.
Starting with the group stages, the teams were split into two groups with the top four teams from each group proceeded to the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Team Fire and Rescue secured third place after edging Team MoHA 1-0 in the tournament’s third-place match.
Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) at the MoHA Abdul Walid bin Haji Matassan presented the prizes.
Team Prisons Department also received the Challenge Trophy alongside their first-place trophy to commemorate their achievement.
Also present were Legislative Council members Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman, Penghulu of Mukim Bukit Sawat and Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, Village Head of Kampong Bukit Sawat. – Daniel Lim
