    Principal highlights importance of holistic learning

    Sayyidina Ali Secondary School (SMSA) hosted a ‘Very Important Parents (VIP) Day and KUNCI (Kesedaran, Usaha, Niat, Cinta, Ikrar)’ event for Year 8 students on Friday at the school’s multi-purpose hall as part of a continued initiative to engage with the parents and guardians on their children’s performance at the school and beyond

    Principal Steven Shim Sheau Huei, deputy principal of academics Fadhlul Ha’adi bin Haji Dollah and deputy principal of administration Hajah Mazizan binti Haji Mohammad were also present at the event.

    Shim said in a speech that to strive towards excellence, there needs to be a holistic approach to academics.

    “To create quality education for the students, it is necessary to involve important stakeholders of the school, which are the students, parents and guardians,” he added.

    He said the event will enable the school to engage more closely with the parents and guardians, together with their children, on the best approach to education, both in school and home, while motivating the students to strive towards academic excellence.

    Fadhlul Ha’adi delivered a presentation on the students’ performances in examinations. The school also shared their targets for upcoming milestones with parents and guardians.

    There was also presentation on the initiatives and efforts to hone students’ knowledge and skills.

    The event continued with a motivational talk, followed by the students taking an oath, before concluding with students, teachers, parents and guardians signing a pledge on the banner for each Year 8 class, which will be displayed at each classroom. – Daniel Lim
