His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC), in a sabda on Wednesday expressed concern on the recent doping incident involving a national badminton athlete.
During the national flag handover ceremony held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports building, for the national contingent to the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, HRH said that the doping incident not only tarnished the nation’s name, but also led to the withdrawal of all their teammates’ medals.
He urged national athletes to be truthful about any medication they take, as random and medal-winning athletes may face drug tests. HRH stressed not taking medication without illness and warned about excessive energy drink consumption resulting in positive doping tests.
