Majlis Istiadat Menerima Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja between His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Yang Mulia Dayang Anisha Rosnah binti Adam was held at Baitur Rahmah, Istana Nurul Iman yesterday afternoon.
The ceremony was held in the presence of Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit bin Pengiran Datu Penghulu Pengiran Haji Apong, who represented the royal bride’s side.
The ceremony saw the presentation of Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja as well as other engagement gifts brought by the royal groom’s delegation, led by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim bin Pengiran Indera Mahkota Pengiran Anak (Dr) Kemaludin Al-Haj and other state dignitaries.
Tanda Diraja, accompanied by Pengarah Awang Murni, was handed over to Pengarah Awang Nor’Ariffin, while Pertunangan Diraja, accompanied by Pengarah Awang Halidin and Pemutus Tali Jintong, accompanied by Pengarah Awang Haji Mohamad Fadzirol Azrisah, were handed over to Pengarah Mohammad Zul-Azfar and Pengarah Awang Mohamed Hazreen. Following that was a 17-gun salute to signal that Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja had been accepted.
Awang-Awang from the royal groom’s delegation carried a gangsa (ceremonial tray) of surat mahar including a list of berian (engagement gifts), two gangsa carrying 40 janar and gangsa ganti-gantian comprising sepangadak pakaian (a set of cloth), a pair of bangles, earrings, two rings, ceramai, kelakati and knife and 16 dian (ceremonial candles).
Janar, a term used in royal wedding ceremonies, is equivalent to mas kahwin (dowry) that is presented to the bride consisting of sesandang emas (sash of gold).
Majlis Istiadat Menerima Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja commenced when Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Abdul Aziz informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit that the ceremony was ready to begin.
Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit then instructed Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jaafar to bring Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja to Balai Singgahsana Indera Kenchana, where they were welcomed by Pehin Jawatan Bini Datin Paduka Dayang Hajah Siti.
Pehin Jawatan Bini Datin Paduka Dayang Hajah Siti brought Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja as well as the ceremonial trays carrying janar to a special room for the royal bride’s side.
Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jaafar then informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit that Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja were safely received by the royal bride’s side.
A Doa Selamat was recited by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mustapa.
Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim then led the delegation back to the Banquet Hall where they informed His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik that Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja had been accepted.
Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Yusof also informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar that the delegation had returned to the Banquet Hall.
Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar informed His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik that the ceremony had been completed.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik then delivered a sabda to close the ceremony and left the Banquet Hall, accompanied by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris. – Rokiah Mahmud
