“Preparations to welcome new preschool students for next year’s session were made a month ago, and the enrolment early this year,” said Acting Headmistress of Pusar Ulak Primary School Hajah Noor Afidawati binti Haji Abdul Rahman during an orientation for parents and guardians of newly-enrolled preschool students yesterday.

Parents were also given reassurance that their children will be cared for in a conducive school environment by the acting headmistress during the briefing held prior to the orientation.

The briefing also included information on how parents can prepare their children for a new learning environment.

The orientation was held to allow children and parents to familiarise the transition from home to a school environment by organising several classroom activities, which included acting, storytelling, painting and playing games.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education stated that several public schools nationwide have carried out orientation for new students who will begin school next year.

The orientation day aims to ease preschoolers into the school environment by introducing them to their teachers and other students prior to school opening to curb first-day anxiety.
