Preliminary round begins for national Al-Quran competition

Some 306 contestants will be competing in the preliminary round of the National Level Al-Quran Memorisation and its Understanding Competition for 1445 Hijrah until January 24.

Yesterday, 37 male and 25 female contestants competed in Category ‘A’ at the Centre for Al-Quran Studies and Dissemination MABIMS at Block 2H, Level 7 and 8.

Category ‘A’ is open for those born in on or after 2011, aged 13 and below. In this category, they need to memorise one Juzuk of the Al-Quran and not a student of Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

For those champion who have won for two consecutive years, they may participate in the competition after two years from their latest participation.

The National Level Al-Quran Memorisation and its Understanding 1445 Hijrah is divided into five categories ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ and ‘E’. Today, 58 contestants will be competing in Category ‘B’. – Rokiah Mahmud
