Thousands of Muslims in Brunei Darussalam yesterday gathered at mosques, suraus and religious halls to pray to Allah the Almighty to protect the Palestinian state and people.
The congregants performed Sunnat Hajat prayer as well as recited Surah Yaasiin and a special Doa.
The focal points of the religious event were Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in the Brunei-Muara District, Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in the Belait District, Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in the Tutong District and Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in the Temburong District.
The Sunnat Hajat prayer at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah was led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Mustafa bin Haji Murat while the special Doa was recited by mosque officer Pengiran Ahmad Faris Ramadhani bin Pengiran Haji Sellahhuddin.
The religious gathering organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs was attended by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan.
Permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, officers and staff at ministries, students at higher learning institutions, preachers, mosque youth and congregants were also present. – Azlan Othman
