Thousands of the Indonesian community in the Sultanate joined officials at the Indonesian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha with mass prayers at the embassy yesterday.

“Alhamdulillah, this year, the Indonesian Embassy is able to hold Sunnat Hari Raya Aidiladha prayer with the Indonesian citizens,” said Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr Sujatmiko.

The gathering was held in view of the COVID-19 situation in the country with strict adherence to official health guidelines to minimise the risk of COVID-19 spread, including using individual prayer mats, wearing face masks at all times, temperature check upon entering the embassy complex and recommending attendees to screen for coronavirus using antigen rapid test kits.

Yesterday’s prayer was led by Rustam Harahap and Yadir Beli, while Professor Dr Shohibuddin Laming delivered the sermon.

He urged congregants to be grateful for the blessings from Allah the Almighty, especially their health, and encouraged them to pray for their brothers and sisters back home in their fight against the pandemic.
