The Department of Electrical Services (DES) and Brunei Shell Petroleum Sendirian Berhad (BSP) in a joint press release on Tuesday announced that a scheduled maintenance and restoration work on gas pipeline PID0016 will be carried out by BSP from 22nd to 23rd December 2023, that will potentially cause a temporary and intermittent electricity supply disruption for a few hours, involving the majority of the areas in Brunei-Muara District.

The press release said works are estimated to be completed within 24 hours and aims to restore the asset’s integrity on several parts of the gas pipeline from the Tungku Gas Plant (TGP) to the Gadong Metering Station (GMS).
During the maintenance period, the operation of the Gadong 1 and Gadong 2 Power Stations operated by DES will experience a temporary shutdown.
To ensure electricity supply to the nation’s critical facilities and infrastructures are not affected, DES will temporarily supply electricity through the Mobile Generation Sets (Genset).
The public is also advised to reduce electricity consumption by adopting energy-saving initiatives and using electricity prudently and efficiently.
