Porsche Brunei celebrated its 25th anniversary as well as the 75th anniversary of the iconic German sports car brand Porsche with a grand gala night on Saturday. To commemorate the occasion, the highly-anticipated Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a new customer reward programme were launched at the event.
The event was attended by distinguished guests including QAF Brunei Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Albert Lau, CEO of Porsche Asia-Pacific Hannes Ruoff and Head of Region at Porsche Asia-Pacific Tim Walkowiak as well as German Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Gerda Winkler.
Porsche Brunei has been bringing sports car dreams to life since its inception in August 1997.
The organisation has come a long way from its early days, with state-of-the-art facilities, a thrilling line up of sports cars and a team that is fully committed to elevating customer-centric experiences.
General Manager of Porsche Brunei Lahiru De Silva, in his welcoming address, shared, “Since the founding of Porsche Brunei in 1997, we have inspired sports car fascination and delivered the very best to our customers. We are thankful for the support of our passionate Porsche community here in Brunei, whose dreams inspire us to reach new heights.
“There is no greater calling than to follow your dreams, and to enable the dreams of others to come true.
“For the past 25 years, Porsche Brunei has been driven by colourful and ambitious dreams, and we are delighted to be sharing our celebrations with the 75th anniversary of the Porsche brand.”
The gala night at Bridex Hall, Jerudong was a fittingly grand black-tie affair, as attendees were treated to an immersive showcase of art, music, dreams and colours.
Guests were taken on a journey that included an exhibit of Porsche’s remarkable milestones in the Sultanate and across the world, together with a showcase of unique Porsche sports cars.
A separate exhibition featuring special customer cars was also curated, along with a spectacular live painting display on a Porsche 911 Carrera S by local artistes from Guerilla Architect.
Further enlivening the night was the debut of all-new Porsche 911 GT3 RS, accompanied by a special dance performance, accentuating its motorsport-inspired design and cutting-edge technology.
Purpose-built for performance, the 992-generation 911 GT3 RS stands for performance orientation without compromise.
Its race-car derived drag reduction system (DRS), single cooler concept and lightweight concept brings the 911 GT3 RS closer to a GT race car than ever before. Its beating heart is a high-revving, naturally-aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine that produces 386kW (525PS) and 470Nm at 9,000 rpm. Combined with highly-adjustable suspension, traction control and differential settings, it can achieve a Nürburgring Nordschleife time 10.6 seconds quicker than its predecessor.
With the legendary Porsche 911 celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2023, Porsche Brunei paid tribute to the sports car icon that has shaped countless dreams with the track-focused 911 GT3 RS.
Guests enjoyed a fine dining experience while reflecting on Porsche’s 25-year journey in Brunei through a special video. The celebratory mood was made livelier with a raffle, as one lucky guest became the proud owner of a limited-edition Porsche Design 1919 Chrono Timer Flyback Automatic Watch.
With the support of the Porsche community being a key factor behind its success story, Porsche Brunei expressed its gratitude to customers by launching a new reward programme for customers to accumulate points with each transaction made at the Porsche Centre.
