Police thwart smuggling attempt in Brunei waters

The Marine Police patrol unit stationed in the Putat zone detected two suspicious boats moving swiftly through the Terusan-Kupang river area on Monday and pursued the boats. One of the suspect boats was found floating near Kampong Setia’s waters, while the other escaped, taking the boat’s operator with it. The abandoned boat was seized along with several suspicious boxes and brought to the Marine Police base for further investigation.

Upon further inspection, the boat contained 19 boxes holding 950 cartons of various brands of cigarettes. Additionally, one box and two cans of assorted alcoholic beverages were discovered.
