Authorities intercepted a boat carrying contraband while another escaped after a pursuit across the nation’s waterways on Thursday.
According to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), Marine Police personnel detected two suspicious boats on Bunga River and attempted an inspection.
Instead of stopping, the boats sped off and Marine Police initiated a pursuit. One boat was found abandoned in Kampong Sungai Bunga without the boat operator while the other boat escaped.
The RBPF said 900 cartons of cigarettes were found on the boat after an investigation. The Marine Police handed over the boat and the contraband to the RBPF for further action. – James Kon
