The Royal Brunei Police Force’s (RBPF) Company ‘C’ Police Reserve Unit foiled an attempt to smuggle contraband into the country on Friday.
The police, patrolling the Brunei-Muara District forest area bordering Malaysia, seized 1,650 cartons of cigarettes.
The RBPF detected a group of individuals with boxes believed to have brought through the border via ‘mouse trails’ at night. Police personnel were mobilised to catch the suspects. They however fled the area after dumping the contraband.
The items were brought to the police station and handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department. – James Kon
