Holding a career as police personnel is a noble profession, demanding the shoulder of heavy and challenging responsibilities. This sentiment was expressed by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, during the launch of three books published by the State Mufti Office at the Prime Minister’s Office, held at Darul Ifta on Tuesday.
In his speech prior to the launch, the State Mufti highlighted that police personnel bear the critical responsibility of maintaining peace. He stressed that if peace is compromised, both society and the nation will suffer the consequences, placing police personnel at the forefront of the fight against crime.
The State Mufti emphasised that in addition to being equipped with firearms and shields, police personnel should also fortify themselves spiritually through the recitation of verses from the Al-Quran, including ‘Basmallah’, Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Ad-Dhuha, and Surah Yaasin.
Furthermore, the State Mufti underscored the importance of practicing Taubat (repentance), which is highly valued in Islam. He noted that frequent repentance can gradually alleviate the burdens, sadness, and challenges faced in life, as Allah the Almighty provides ease to those who seek forgiveness.
As the guest of honour, the State Mufti officially launched three books titled “Keutamaan Taubat,” “Penghayatan Nilai-Nilai Islam Dalam Pasukan Polis Diaraja Brunei,” and “Adab-Adab Dalam Islam.”
During the ceremony, the State Mufti presented the newly launched books as waqaf (endowment) to six libraries: Brunei Islamic Library, Language and Literature Bureau, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Library, Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) Library, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB) Library, and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Library.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of the new books by the State Mufti. – ROKIAH MAHMUD
