A contingent from Brunei achieved a podium finish in the Spartan Race held as part of the Kuala Lumpur Trifecta Weekend 2023 at Gamuda Cove in Selangor, Malaysia recently.
One of the Bruneian participants Afiqah binti Haji Hanapi shared her experience with the Bulletin after securing the bronze medal in the Beast 21-kilometre category after clocking the time of 3:21:09.
“The event was attended by more than 6,000 participants from across 30 countries, with Brunei being the second country having the most participants competing behind Malaysia.
Many participants have finished the race and received their Kuala Lumpur Trifecta Weekend 2023 Medal,” she said.
“This is my first time competing but it felt great. I’m happy with this win and it would not be possible without all the training sessions with my friends and coaches. I am also grateful to my family and friends, especially Adibah Mohamed who introduced me to Spartan Race,” Afiqah added. – Daniel Lim
