The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) futsal team yesterday claimed top spot in Group ‘B’ of the Open League for the 31st Civil Service Day Inter-Ministerial Futsal Tournament after securing 12 points, advancing them to the quarterfinals.

Joining them in the next stage is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) team, while teams from the Ministry of Development (MoD) and Ministry of Defence (MinDef) also managed to secure their spots in the quarterfinals.

PMO is set to face the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) in the quarterfinals, while MFA will go up against the Ministry of Education (MoE). In the other matches, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) will face MinDef, and MoD will test their luck against the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).

The knockout quarterfinal matches will take place at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas today.

Meanwhile, in the veteran category quarterfinals, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) will take on the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT), MoE will challenge MoHA, MoD will face the Ministry of Health (MoH), and MoRA is expected to work hard to eliminate MinDef.

The tournament, organised by the MoHA, aims to enhance the players’ potential, discover new talent, and foster camaraderie among civil servants. – Fadhil Yunus
