Plenty of talent at robotic and coding conquest contest

The winners in the Robotic and Coding Conquest competition 2023 received their prizes yesterday. Mohammad Faiz bin Hj Sufrikhan was placed first in the Machine Learning Hackathon, followed by Mohammed Shameer and Mohd Muqri Izuddin bin Haji Mohd Jamil in second and third places.

Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held the prize-giving ceremony in conjunction with Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2023. The ceremony at the university’s Lecture Theatre 2 was attended by UTB’s Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohammad Saiful bin Haji Omar as the guest of honour.

A welcoming speech was delivered by facilitators of IoT (Internet of Things) and robotics competition and working committee Ir Dr Ahmad Azlan bin Ab Aziz.

In IOT Smart Hackathon, Jerryann Yong Ann Qiao secured the top spot, while Muhammad Fauzan Ho bin Muhammad Johari Ho, Nur Farzana Saiful Azmi and Abdul Wazif bin Ja’afaruddin took second, third and fourth place.

As for the Robotic Competition, the first-place winner was the Durian team while the second, third, and fourth places were secured by StarScream, DynoVEX, and Green Shark respectively.

The competition brought together a series of competitions, featuring three categories to highlight Industrial Revolution 4.0 technologies. The Machine Learning and IOT Smart Home Hackathon, provided participants with a platform to demonstrate problem-solving skills and innovative ideas.

The VEX EDR Robotic Competition allowed the next generation of engineers to showcase their engineering ability, programming skills and teamwork.

The competition drew participation from Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Tahfiz, Awang Semaun Secondary School, and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School. – Adib Noor
