Players excited to play in front of fans, says Brunei football coach

Brunei Darussalam football coach Mario Rivera Campesino said players are eager and ready to play in front of the crowds.

He said this during a press conference yesterday for the second leg of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier match against Indonesia.

“Their attitude is amazing; they are keeping their heads up and keep on training to try to win. We must be proud of their commitment and attitude,” he added.

He said the team will try to correct the mistakes in the first game during tonight’s match.

The team need to play a perfect game in defence and with the fans support, the players will be more motivated and more confident, he added.

Meanwhile, Bruneian player Hakeme Yazid hopes to do his best in front of the fans in the first game of the newly-renovated national stadium.

Indonesia national football coach Shin Tae-Yong said they are approaching the game with the same tactic and will not make many changes. He added, “I am expecting Brunei to show their full strength in the game in front of their home crowds.“
