PIP assists search of Temburong future stars

Local grassroots football development programme Projek Ikan Pusu (PIP) recently made a brief visit to the Temburong District to participate in friendly matches with the Temburong Amateur Football Association’s Development Programme at the Temburong Sports Complex.

The PIP delegation comprising players of all age groups from five to 19 was led by head coach Haji Omar bin Haji Jamil. The friendly matches aimed to strengthen ties between the two teams, build character, teach and develop strategic thinking and develop analytical thinking as well develop leadership skills.

PIP head coach Haji Omar highlighted that their visit is to develop players in the Temburong District which had previously seen past idols Liew Chuan Fue, Fadlin Galawat and Sabtu Lupat flourish in the national and regional stage representing the country.

The head coach expressed gratitude to the Temburong coaches Md Danial Haris Abdullah, Mahadi bin Haji Jainih @ Zaini, and Mohd Nur Halimin Shahminan all of whom who were present with their players during their visit. He said, “Naturally, as a grassroots football programme, PIP would like to give our young Temburong friends and players a boost in spirit and confidence to improve their interest and love for football.”

Meanwhile, PIP Manager Cheah Swee Ming added, “Judging by the very warm reception that the PIP delegation received in Temburong, the future looks bright for similar future exchanges and friendly matches. Thank you, Temburong!”

He also thanked the PIP committee members for their support of their programme which makes exchanges such as the one in Temburong possible and supporting their vision of an even better Brunei Darussalam through grassroots and youth football.
