MANILA (XINHUA) – The Philippines’ debt had decreased to PHP15.55 trillion (USD276.82) as of August, 0.9 per cent lower than at the end of July, the Philippines’ Bureau of Treasury said yesterday.

The bureau attributed the decrease in August to the revaluation effect of peso appreciation and the net repayment of external debt.

The bureau said 30.60 per cent of the total debt stock was sourced externally while 69.40 per cent were domestic borrowings.
