Philippine ambassador meets with International Women’s Club

The Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Marian Jocelyn R Tirol-Ignacio recently met with International Women’s Club of Brunei (IWCB) to discuss areas of cooperation.

IWCB President Ungku Datin Hajah Fanzah binti Haji Osman hosted the cordial get-together with Vice-President Naz Rashid, IWCB Secretary Helen Yeo, and IWCB member Noora Ahmad.

The ambassador and the IWCB discussed the broad contributions female Filipino workers have played in Brunei’s economy.

The ambassador also expressed her appreciation for IWCB’s contribution to the socio-cultural fabric of Brunei and her interest in potential collaborations with Brunei on biodiversity, maritime issues, gender and the promotion of indigenous and creative industries.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of a copy of the ASEAN in 2017 coffee table book Partnering for Change, Engaging the World: The Philippines’ Chairmanship of ASEAN’s Golden Year.

The IWCB was established in the Sultanate in 1988 and is an affiliate of the International Women’s Club.

It is an English-speaking association of women living in Brunei Darussalam who share interests in social, cultural and charitable activities.
