PH-Muda seat negotiations taking place today

ANN/THE STAR – Seat negotiations between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) will take place today for 15th General Election (GE15), said Anthony Loke.

Loke, who is PH chief whip and Democratic Action Party (DAP) secretary-general, said People’s Justice Party (PKR) President Anwar Ibrahim and Parti Amanah Negara President Mohamad Sabu met to discuss this on Thursday.

“We have given instructions to the negotiations committee that we must meet Muda on Sunday,” Loke told a crowd at a Muda event in Negeri Sembilan on Friday night.

He also said there was nothing hindering seat negotiations between the two parties.

“We have a process which sometimes takes time and there could be frustrations on the other (Muda’s) side,” said Loke, adding that he meets Muda President Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman very frequently.

On Wednesday, Muda Election Director Amira Aisya Abd Aiz said that no meeting had been set between the two parties.

Anwar had announced last week that PH was forming a pact with Muda for GE15 and a committee would continue discussions between the two parties.

On Tuesday, PKR Youth Deputy Chief Kamil Munim called for the presidential council to discuss Muda’s plan to field a candidate in the Titiwangsa parliamentary seat.

The move drew flak from PH supporters, claiming a breach of the pact.

Kamil said the Titiwangsa seat, which was won by PH in GE14, should go to Amanah.

“As far as we are concerned, the seat belongs to Amanah and not PKR. We leave it to the presidential council to decide,” he said after launching the wing’s volunteer mission at PKR headquarters here.

Its Communications Director Khalid Samad had claimed earlier that the Titiwangsa seat was Amanah’s before it was handed over to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia for GE14.
