The most valuable resource in human capital is the intellect, dedication and spirit of employees as they are the heartbeat of the organisations. In any industry, the driving force that makes impact is the people.
This was said by Progresif Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hajah Nurul Haniah binti Haji Jaafar during the opening ceremony of the two-day INITIATE 2023: Human Capital Summit at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall, The Empire Brunei yesterday.
She cited a titah by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to mark the 39th National Day: ”True national development… is more meaningful than building facilities and systems that positively impact the people, just like the development of human resources (HR) to produce people who are progressive, independent, and not solely relying on the government,” a vision, Hajah Nurul Haniah said, that aligns with INITIATE’s principles.
She added, “This sentiment resonates with our core values and aligns with the framework of Brunei Vision 2035.
“A framework that envisions a future where our citizens are educated, skilled, and empowered – contributing to the dynamic and progressive growth of our nation and economy.”
Hajah Nurul Haniah said, “The summit serves as a pivotal bridge, bringing together HR professionals, speakers, exhibitors and participants to exchange knowledge, ignite innovation, and collectively contribute towards the realisation of Brunei Vision 2035 aspirations through a whole-of-nation approach.
“This belief is echoed in our commitment to the well-being of our employees, recognising that the success of our company is intrinsically tied to their welfare. We acknowledge that nurturing our human capital is not just a strategic imperative, but a shared responsibility to be embedded throughout our organisation.
“Through this summit, we hope to enhance our understanding of the holistic employee development, fostering a workforce that thrives and propels us towards our collective goals.”
She also thanked the original founders of INITIATE, Perspective Insan Academy CEO Iswandy bin Ahmad and Grominda CEO Aiman Minorhadi, for laying the foundation for the summit.
Organised by Progresif, the summit gathers HR professionals, industry experts and participants to provide insights, foster connections, and equip participants with the tools to thrive in the evolving professional landscape of human capital development.
Universiti Brunei Darussalam Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.
The summit will see collaborations with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and the Human Resources Society Brunei (HRS) and is supported by sponsors and partners including Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, and Dynamik Technologies. – James Kon
