Bruneian professional basketball club Pegasus will be heading to the Malaysia D-League tipping off today and ends on August 21 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Founder of Pegasus Sport Agency Samuel Jong has put together both local and international talents with the aim of finishing at least in the semi-finals.
Headed by experienced coach Andika Supriadi Saputra from Indonesia, Pegasus comprises 1.98-metre tall Marcus Quirk; Teoh Yi Kang who led Malaysia to a second place finish at the 2017 SEABA U16 Championship; and 2019 MABA Cup Slam Dunk champion Brooklyn Emerson.
Other players include William Ching, Juelar Francis, Jonathan Lim, Boon Yi Hoa, Lim Wei Qian, Ding Shee Lie, Ng Yinwei, Jeremy Chu, Barry Tsung Lik King, Yap You Xin and Kuan Shean Lin.
Jong said, “The team comprises five Bruneian basketball players, three from Miri and five from Kuala Lumpur.
“The Malaysia D-League is an Under-23 league and the next level of competition is pro league. This competition is not easy and I hope Brunei players will take this opportunity to gain exposure and develop their skills.”
Pegasus is in Group B with Selangor XXIII, Sunrise Youngsters, Singapore Adroit, Johor Tigers, Speed Hunters and MBC.
