PDS Abattoir Sdn Bhd (PDS), a subsidiary of Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd, has reached a remarkable milestone by earning accreditation from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).
This achievement marks the first time Brunei will export meat-based processed products to Singapore, underscoring a significant accomplishment for both the company and the nation.
Permanent Secretary (Economy, Trade and Industry) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) Dr Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin was briefed on the export launch at the Brunei International Airport Cargo Centre (BIACC) on Friday.
Building on years of strategic updates and expanded processing capacity, PDS is set to export 10 Brunei Halal-certified products to Singapore.
The strategic move aligns with the nation’s aspirations to expand its export economy and establish a robust presence in international markets.
This endeavor follows the company’s successful entry into the Sabah market in 2023.
For its Singapore operations, PDS has partnered with Pondok Abang, a leading halal food manufacturer with an established presence in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, to manage product distribution and marketing.
The partnership with Pondok Abang extends beyond export distribution.
Both companies are working together to craft targeted promotional and marketing campaigns centered around key events such as Ramadhan, Hari Raya, and the Food and Hotel Asia (FHA) Expo scheduled for April 2025.
Additionally, PDS will engage in an OEM arrangement at its Brunei processing facility, producing and distributing Pondok Abang’s products locally. This collaboration includes securing Brunei-Halal certification for two of Pondok Abang’s products to be manufactured in Brunei.
Securing SFA accreditation represents a crucial step for PDS as it seeks to expand its export capabilities to other international markets.
This achievement was made possible through close collaboration with the relevant ministry, government departments, and agencies.
