PBDB Veteran emerged as the winner over Mengellela in the first match for the Belait District Veteran Football League 2023 at the Seria Arena Football Field on Sunday.
PBDB Veteran started out strong against Mengellela, scoring three goals in the first 30 minutes, with the lead continuing to extend into the second half.
While Mengellela managed to net a goal at the 59-minute mark of the match, PBDB Veteran pulled ahead to score three more goals, winning the match 6-1.
Five teams are competing in this year’s Veteran League, including PBDB Veteran, Mengellela, Savisci Panaga, KB Warrior, and BSRC Veteran.
The format features teams competing against each other in matches broken down into three 30-minute games with five-minute breaks in between, totalling 90 minutes.
With the first game held, the Veteran League continues on February 4 where Savisci Panaga will go up against KB Warriors.
The league organised by the Belait District Football Association (PBDB) aims to promote football, especially among the senior players of the district aged 40 and above.
