PB, ITE link arms in new chapter of collaboration

Politeknik Brunei (PB) and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Singapore marked a new chapter of cooperation following the signing of the first letter of collaboration (LOC) yesterday. The signing was held virtually at the main PB campus at Jalan Ong Sum Ping and ITE, Singapore.

PB Acting Director Lim Kian Boon and ITE College Central Principal Suresh Natarajan signed the LOC, witnessed by ITE College Central Senior Director of School of Engineering Dr Lim See Yew and PB Head of School at the School of Science and Engineering Haji Mohammad Reizal bin Mohammad Ali.

According to PB, the collaboration will bring further enhancements in the fields of student exchanges based on cultural, social, technology usage experiences and Industry 4.0 Education Technology Applied Research, particularly in the use of two areas: Artificial Intelligence – Enabled Marking Computer Aided Drawing (AMCAD), and Mixed Reality Telemetry for Machine Operations.

ITE was established as a post-secondary institution in 1992, under the Ministry of Education of Singapore. ITE is a principal provider of career and technical education and a key developer of national skills certification and standards, skilling Singapore for the future economy.

It offers three key programmes – Pre-employment training for youth after secondary education, continuing education and training for adult learners, and workplace learning and work-study programmes with employers.

Under its ‘One ITE System, Three Colleges’ governance model, ITE has three colleges – ITE College Central, ITE College East and ITE College West.

Meanwhile, PB commenced operation in January 2012 as the first polytechnic in Brunei Darussalam to deliver quality higher technical education and training for the country to accelerate the growth of competent and skilled manpower.

PB is a higher education institute recognised under the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam, delivering Level 5 Diploma programmes. PB aims to equip students with sustainable 21st Century skills through holistic and quality education in a supportive and conducive teaching and learning environment.
