Passing of the torch as Belait club’s Board appoints new president

President of the Rotary Club of Belait (RCB) Patricia Bongwant reminded the members of the club’s mission of giving back to the community.

“Through ongoing projects and newly-formed ones in the future, I believe that we will be able to achieve this and more as your newly appointed president,” she said during an installation ceremony for the fiscal year of 2024-2025 at a restaurant in Seria on Sunday.

Bong highlighted how the club has continued to uphold various charitable projects over the years, such as helping a blind elderly residing in rural Belait, to conducting their annual blood donation campaign; pledging that she will continue to carry on the club’s project in the future. She also expressed gratitude to the outgoing president Helen Tang for her mentorship and guidance, noting that the new leadership will remain committed to their shared goals and values.

To officiate the appointment, Tang handed over the club’s pin to the newly appointed president, who handed the designation pins to the other board of directors members.

Important roles assigned include Tang as the vice president, Agnes Hwong as the secretary, and Patrick Lai as treasurer.

The club also celebrated its 58th anniversary with a cake-cutting ceremony.
