Participants urged to develop leadership, interpersonal skills

Participants of the 8th Young Executive Programme (YEP) were urged to use the opportunity provided to develop their leadership and interpersonal skills.

Public Service Department (JPA) Director-General Dr Norfarizal bin Othman said this as the chief guest at the 8th YEP opening ceremony yesterday.

The programme aims to nurture and develop 28 potential leaders with high values and positive behaviour to achieve the desired results and improve organisational performance.

The programme is also intended to strengthen future leaders’ capabilities to meet the public’s ever-changing needs. The programme is the first entry into the Civil Service Leadership Pipeline (CSLP) under the JPA.

The inaugural YEP programme started in 2017 and has since been conducted by the Civil Service Institute (IPA).

This year’s programme will be conducted over 12 weeks and covers essential leadership and teambuilding skills, focusing on governmental rules and regulations as well as effective management and communication skills.
