    Pandemic-resilient graduates commended

Islamic Studies Department Director Haji Shamsol bin Haji Omar commended graduates under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) scholarship for 2022 and 2023 for their achievements during an appreciation and Doa Kesyukuran ceremony at The Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong yesterday.

“Their achievements are commendable as these graduates were those affected during the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted their education, leading to some scholarship recipients to switch their studies to local higher learning institutions such as Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan. Despite the challenges, these graduates persevered and pursued success,” said the director.

Some 30 graduates, comprising seven who completed their studies in 2022 and 23 graduates who completed theirs this year, were feted. The director shared that one graduate has completed Master’s at Jordan University, one in Bachelor’s Degree at International Islamic University in Malaysia, six in Bachelor’s Degree at Al-Azhar University, five at Ma’had Qiraat Shoubra, Egypt and 17 in Bachelor’s Degree at UNISSA. The ceremony served as a platform to express gratitude to Allah the Almighty for the scholarship students’ achievements.

The event was among the initiatives by the ministry to support the MoRA’s Strategic Plan 2020-2024, in line with the first goal of Brunei Vision 2035 in producing a highly skilled and successful population.
