GAZA (XINHUA) – The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced on Sunday that it has suspended operations at its medical clinics in northern Gaza, shortly after the Israeli army declared the encirclement of the Jabalia area.

A press statement said that the society’s medical clinics in northern Gaza have suspended operations due to the ongoing “aggression” by Israel in the region. The Israeli army launched a widespread campaign against the population in the northern Gaza Strip, forcing evacuations, according to the statement.

It emphasised that the Israeli operation has forced the society’s staff to evacuate from their residences and has halted operations at four medical points. On Sunday, the Israeli army announced that its forces have encircled the Jabalia area following intense shelling in northern Gaza the night before.

Israeli army spokesperson Avichai Adraee announced on his social media platform X that the 162nd Division began operations in the Jabalia area on Saturday night.
